How to Clean Wood Blinds

Regular cleaning is necessary to keep dirt and dust from building up on the blinds over time. Wood blinds require special care and cleaning methods to avoid damaging the delicate wood. Clean your wood blinds once every month or two to avoid the need for water or polish, which is only safe to use on unfinished blinds.

Things You'll Need

• Vacuum
• 2 socks
• Wood polish (optional)
• Soft cloth

Instructions

Vacuuming Wood Blinds

1. Close the wood blinds so they're facing in one direction.

2. Vacuum the wood blinds in a horizontal motion with a brush attachment. Start at the top and work on one small area at a time until you reach the bottom.

3. Flip the wood blinds so they face the opposite direction. Vacuum the blinds with the soft brush attachment until no dirt or dust remains.

Dusting Wood Blinds

1. Dampen a pair of socks with a small amount of water or wood polish. Do not soak the socks with liquid, as too much can damage the blinds. If you have unfinished wood blinds, do not use any water or polish.

2. Close the wood blinds, and place the socks on your hands.

3. Wipe both sides of the wood blinds between your hands. Work on one small area at a time, turning the socks to a clean side as they get dirty.
