You can get disposable chopsticks for free in most sushi bars and Chinese restaurants; however, the life cycle of these eating utensils does not have to end when you are done eating. Chopsticks have a number of versatile uses around the house.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Write plant names on the sides of chopsticks and then stick them in the dirt next to seedlings and small plants. Additionally, you can use chopsticks and string to help support plants as they grow.

  2. Step 2

Sand the stick to a smooth surface and then use them as hair sticks. Simply twist long hair into a bun and then weave the ends of the sticks through your hair to hold it in place.

  3. Step 3

Use chopsticks as stirrers for paint, or even for drinks. Additionally, you can place the end of a chopstick into the pour spout of spice jars to help loosen caked spices, common in humid environments.

  4. Step 4

Maneuver sponges or damp cloths inside of jars and other hard to clean items, using the chopsticks to clean corners and areas hard to reach with your fingers or hands.

  5. Step 5

Stick one end of a chopstick into hot oil until it touches the bottom of the pan. If bubbles rise around the wooden chopstick, you will know that your frying oil is hot enough.

  6. Step 6

Unplug your toaster and then use a pair of chopsticks to help remove that stuck piece of toast.

  7. Step 7

Recycle chopsticks by cleaning then well and then using them for a variety of arts and crafts projects. They can be used as paintbrushes, but up to make picture frames or glued together to make chopstick houses and other fun projects.
