There's no need to buy brand name lip gloss stains when you can make your own so easily at home. Better yet, your own lip gloss stain will be composed from 100 percent natural, chemical-free ingredients, and you can adjust the color to suit your own tastes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 tbsp. sweet almond oil
  • Glass easuring cup
  • Saucepan
  • 1 tbsp. beeswax pellets or xanthum gum
  • 1 tsp. beet juice or beet juice powder
  • 1 (1-oz.) lip gloss container
Step1
Put 2 tbsp. of sweet almond oil in a glass measuring cup and put the cup in a saucepan of simmering water.
Step2
Add the 1 tbsp. of beeswax pellets or xanthum gum and heat the mixture only long enough for it to melt.
Step3
Stir in a tiny amount of beet juice or beet powder, and blend it well. Continue adding beet juice or beet powder very gradually until the lip stain reaches the desired color.
Step4
Pour the warm lip gloss stain into the lip gloss jar, and use as desired.
Step5
Store the lip gloss stain in a cool place, or keep it in the refrigerator. Dispose of the lip gloss stain after 6 months.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have beet juice or beet juice powder, you can substitute red food coloring. Add it very slowly, using only a drop at a time.
  • If you like flavored lip stain, add a few drops of vanilla or peppermint extract.
  • You can use any good moisturizing oil in lip gloss stain, including sunflower oil, jojoba oil, or olive oil.
