How to Make Your Own Coat Hanger

You can never have too many hangers, and usually you have too many. When that is the case, you can end the monotony of boring coat hangers by making some of your own. You can turn one of the most commonly used household items into something you actually enjoy using.

• Wooden coat hanger
• Foam
• Fabric
• Sewing kit

How to Make Your Own Coat Hanger

1. Choose your fabric. This hanger will be holding your coat, so pick a fabric that you enjoy to look at and will like to have in your closet.

2. Adjust your foam. Wrap the piece of foam around the wooden part of the hanger, tucking the ends together. Use the needle and thread from your sewing kit to secure the foam in place around your hanger.

3. Form your fabric. Fold the right sides of the fabric together lengthwise and cut a half circle from each end.

4. Sew your fabric. Keep the right sides together, and stitch the fabric at both ends along the half-circle, leaving a one-cm seam. Stitch one of the long sides of the fabric, but leave the other side open.

5. Flip the fabric. Turn the fabric right-side out and iron the fabric along the seams.

6. Fit your hanger. Slide the hanger in through the opening on the top and use a decorative stitch to close the rest of the fabric around the hanger.

7. Add a finishing touch. Tie a ribbon around the bottom of the hook of the hanger just above the fabric to finish the hanger.
