While it's customary for the baby and mother-to-be to receive gifts and well wishes, guests attending a baby shower can walk away with a gift for themselves. You can make favors for any occasion, and the next baby shower on your calendar is the best place to start.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Develop a theme. The mother-to-be may have the nursery theme picked out, and may have items on the registry that relate to a specific character or color for the baby. Also, make note of the baby's sex, if available.

  2. Step 2

Know the guest list. Before selecting the best baby shower favor to make, ask for a copy of who may be attending the shower. This will give you an idea of the number of favors to make, as well as an age range of the guests.

  3. Step 3

Narrow your favor ideas down. Popular baby shower gifts include small potted plants, candy wrapped in tulle, homemade soaps or beauty products, as well as cookies shaped as baby accessories. Depending on the guests attending, seeds for planting in the garden and "starting a new life" may be a big hit.

  4. Step 4

Ask for second opinions. Having a second or third person to work with may be a good idea so you can offer your top two choices for baby shower favors and see which one receives the most positive reaction.

  5. Step 5

Purchase favor accessories. A craft store is a great place to buy items for your favors. If you're choosing candies or planting seeds to wrap in tulle, you'll need to buy not only the items to go in the tulle, but the tulle itself. You can buy tulle in individual squares or in a large roll, which can then be cut to the size you need.

  6. Step 6

Put together your baby shower favors. For a personal touch, you can print small slips of paper containing a message from the mother- and baby-to-be to the guests, which you can then attach to the baby shower favors with ribbon.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to make extra baby shower favors in case of additional guests, and also for the mom-to-be for memory book or box purposes.
