Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Determine the source of your problem. If you pumped that gas intake button too many times or tipped the mower over, changes are it is flooded, saturating the filter with gasoline.
-
Step 2
For the simplest remedy, let it sit for an hour or so (the more time the better) to see if that fixes the problem. If not, it is probably to saturated, and you will need your screwdriver.
-
Step 3
With your Phillips screwdriver, remove the top plastic covering of your lawnmower.
-
Step 4
Again, since that allows a bit more air in, you can simply let it alone, out in the sun, to see if that helps.
-
Step 5
If not, underneath the plastic covering, you will see a plastic black box. It shouldn't be screwed together, but rather snap closed.
-
Step 6
Pry open that box with a flat head screwdriver. Inside will be a thick cloth-like material. That is your filter. If it is not saturated in gas (it will be wet and odorous), you have a different problem and may need to take it to a mechanic.
-
Step 7
If it is saturated, let it dry over night. Then put it back in and start the mower up.
