How to Clean a Plastic Shower and Tub

Plastic shower-and-tub combination inserts are very popular in today's bathrooms. They are easy to install because the tub and shower are together in one piece. However, the plastic can be challenging to keep clean. Here are some tips to keep your plastic shower and tub sparkling.

Keeping Your Shower and Tub Clean

1. Purchase a cleaning solution. Liquid soap scum cleaners or abrasive powders both work well. Another alternative would be to make your own cleanser by mixing two parts vinegar to one part warm water. Yet another option is bleach, but it gives off strong vapors that make it hard to breathe.

2. Spray or pour the cleaner into the tub and onto the shower walls. Let it stand for at least 10 minutes to allow the cleanser to start breaking up the grime, making it easier to remove.

3. Use a stiff sponge to scrub the tub and shower wall. Scrub in a circular motion, applying pressure to remove all the dirt.

4. Rinse the tub and shower wall with hot water to wash away all the dirt and cleaning solution. The hot water will help to further disinfect the tub and shower.

5. Use a squeegee to remove all excess water and prevent streaking. (Optional)
