How to Make a Fish Hook Necklace. Making your own stylish jewelry does not require a lot of money for fancy supplies or a lot of expertise. With a little creativity and a few dollars spent at your local sport's supply store, you can create a unique and stunning necklace from standard fish hooks. A few steps will show you how.

Choose your fish hooks. While the number and size of hooks you use will depend on how large you want to make your necklace, the hooks should be thick enough that they do not bend easily. Select a brightly colored fishing lure as well, which are available in realistic-looking fish and a variety of colors. Again, the size and style will depend on your personal taste.

Use a pair of wire cutters to carefully snip off the sharp points on your fish hooks and lure. Then use a metal file to to soften the edges so that you do not get poked by your new necklace. Place the loop of one end of a necklace clasp onto your first hook.

Thread the point of the fish hook through the round eye of another and then use a pair of pliers to bend the point into a large circle. The tip of the barb should meet the hook about halfway down the straight edge. Repeat with the other fish hooks until the necklace is just about half the length you like.

Slip your fishing lure onto the last hook to create your necklace pendant and then connect another hook in the same fashion of the rest. Continue attaching fish hooks until you have make the necklace your desired length. Before closing the final hook, slip the looped end of the opposite clasp piece over the sharp end of the hook.
