A spin and win wheel is both exciting and fun. It can add a lot to any party, carnival or other function. Renting one can be both expensive and a hassle so here is how to make one of your own.
Things You'll Need
- Thin wood or thick poster board
- Jigsaw or scissors and compass
- Metal or hard plastic stand
- Nut and bolt
- Decorative materials
Gather your materials. You can use either a thin piece of wood or thick poster board. Draw a large circle on your chosen material. Use a compass or trace something to make your circle perfect.
Cut it out with scissors or use the jigsaw to cut the circle. Measure with a ruler and find the exact center. Mark it with a pencil. Create a hole in the center with either a drill or scissors.
Decorate your wheel. Draw or paint sections and fill them in with the fun things that can be won. You can use paint, markers, photos, fabric or anything else you can think of to decorate these segments.
Construct or purchase a stand for your wheel to perch from. The height and weight are up to you. For a wooden wheel you might want to use metal, for a poster board wheel, a hard plastic stand should do just fine.
Push the bolt through the center of the wheel and through a hole in the stand. Screw the nut on the back. Leave it somewhat loose so the wheel is able to spin. If it's too tight the wheel will be stuck in place. That's it! You're ready to start playing and winning!
Tips & Warnings
- Leave the nut a little bit loose so the wheel is able to spin
- Don't spin your wheel too hard if it's made of poster board, it might bend or tear
