Instructions

    • 1

Jack up the trailer. Make sure that the trailer is secure and stable. Block the tires so there's no movement in either direction.

    • 2

Locate the small rubber plug at the back of the wheel. Pull it out so you can reach the star wheel in the adjuster hole. Use a flashlight to help you locate the star wheel.

    • 3

Take the brake adjuster tool and insert it in the star wheel. Pull the tool handle down. This should turn the star wheel upward. You may need to maneuver the adjuster tool to reach the star wheel which is deep inside the adjuster hole.

    • 4

Center the brake shoes by turning the adjuster. It will lock up once it's in the right position.

    • 5

Turn the adjuster tool about 8 or 10 clicks back. Expect the wheel to make a scraping noise when it turns. The wheel should turn freely now without slowing down. Repeat for the remaining wheels.

Tips & Warnings

  • The axle covers the adjusting hole on some trailers. You can still make the adjustment. It'll just take longer.
