Have you been using your rotary cutter for a lot of sewing projects and now your blade seems a little dull? It's important to change a rotary cutter blade regularly because a dull blade is more dangerous than a sharp one. Also, fabric is much easier to cut when the rotary cutter blade is sharp.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Rotary cutter
  • New blade
  1. Step 1

Remove the new blade from the packaging. Leave the plastic container open that came with your new blade.

  2. Step 2

Take the old blade off the rotary cutter. Remove the screw and washer from one side of the cutter and set aside. Be careful handling the old blade because it is still sharp. Place the old blade in the plastic container from the new blade.

  3. Step 3

Place the new blade on the rotary cutter. Be extremely careful since this blade is sharp.

  4. Step 4

Put the washer back on in the correct position. When installed properly, the curved edge of the washer points outward.

  5. Step 5

Replace the screw and tighten it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to buy the correct size blade for your cutter. The different size blades are 18, 28, 45 and 60mm. Take your rotary cutter to the store with you and match it up to the proper size blade if you are unsure of the correct size of your blade.
  • In Step 6, when you tighten the screw that holds the blade to the handle, be careful not to tighten the screw too tight. But you also need to be careful that it's not too loose. If it's too tight, the blade won't roll and cut properly. If it's too loose, it will come off while you are cutting and could cause an injury.
