Things You'll Need:
- A Basic Socket and Wrench
- A Good Attitude

Step 1
Ok, we are going to go over how to find and replace your EGR. There are 4 types of engines. The 4.3L, 5.0L and 5.7L should have Throttle Body or a Carburated System. The 7.4L engine should be Multi Port Fuel Injection.
The EGR Valve on Throttle Body Fuel Injection or Carburated System should be located on the left side of intake on the engine, near the throttle body or carburetor.
The EGR Valve on the Mulit Port Fuel Injection should be locate on the right side of the intake with a small rubber tube leading toward the rear of the engine.
The picture shows a little better on the location of the EGR valve -
Step 2
You will need to remove the Air Filter and Housing from the 4.3L, 5.0L, or 5.7L engines. It should be located on top of the intake near the carb or throttle body. It has two bolts that hold it onto the intake, and an electrical harness on it. Remove the harness than the bolts.
On the 7.4L engine it should be located on the right side of the intake. It should have one bolt holding it onto the intake, and an electrical harness. Remove the harness than the bolt. -
Step 3
You will need to have a new Gasket along with your new EGR Valve. You will want to clean the surface on the intake where the old gasket was to make sure the new one fits on properly.
Once you have cleaned the gasket, put on the new Gasket and the new EGR Valve, replace and tighten the bolt(s) and your done!
