Most women encounter the dreaded "Bride-zilla" at one point or another. It's important not to let these women push us around! Here are some ways you can take matters into your own hands.
The second the bride starts to get out of hand, let her know. So many of us wait until something is out of control to do something about it. When she starts making unreasonable demands simply say, "Think of what you are asking of people. If people asked that of you, would you want to do that?" Make her "check in" with herself.
Step2
Say no to unreasonable demands. If she wants you to buy yourself a special bra that costs a fortune to wear to her wedding, don't do it. What is the worst that could happen? You could also be sneaky and just pretend you bought the bra. There is no way that on her wedding day she will be checking that everyone has done so.
Step3
When costs get out of hand, remind the bride that her wedding is not the only thing you have going on in your life. If she needs specifics, give them to her. Say things like, "Do you want me to buy the $100 shoes I'll wear for six hours, or do you want me to pay my phone bill this month?"
Step4
Remind the bride to stay interesting. Instigate conversations about topics other than the wedding. Bring her back to reality.
Step5
If all else fails, remember that on the actual wedding day she will be so distracted, none of these minor details will mean anything. Hopefully she will return to normal after the wedding. But if not, remember not to act like this when your special day comes!
