Keep your cool, but be assertive. Truthfully speaking, you can be assertive in New York City with out being rude. If you see the doors of a packed subway about to slam in your face, push your way inside and say, “Excuse me!” There is no need to wait eight to 10 more minutes for a train. Sometimes trains come slower than that.

Let rude comments roll off your back. When the kamikaze taxi driver from hell almost runs you down in the cross walk, then commences to rolling down his window to hurl an insult, keep walking. Ignorance is bliss in New York City. Sometimes the best way to seek revenge is by dusting the dirt off your shoulders and let the taxi driver act like a moron by himself.
