Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Magnetic closure
  • Scissors
  • No-fray
  • Button
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Ribbon

    Use a Velcro Closure

  1. Step 1

Buy iron-on adhesive velcro to sew onto the edge of each bag. Make sure it is adhesive and made for fabric.

  2. Step 2

Cut a piece of velcro about 2 inches long. Round the edges of the velcro piece by trimming them with a scissors.

  3. Step 3

Remove the adhesive on both sides of the velcro and put it onto your purse. Carefully pull the velcro apart, and put a scrap piece of fabric between the two velcro layers.

  4. Step 4

Lay the purse flat on a hard surface, and press the velcro and purse with a hot iron for about a minute.

  5. Add Alternative Closures

  6. Step 1

Attach a magnetic closure made for purses. The two-piece closure is easily attached to the purse.

  7. Step 2

Cut a small slit legnth wise on one side of the purse. Seal the edges of the slit with no-fray sewing sealant. Sew a button on the opposite inside of the purse, and slide the button through the hole to close your purse.

  8. Step 3

Sew a loop of ribbon to one side and a button to the other side. Glue or sew the ribbon to the inside of the purse, and sew the button to the opposite side.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the iron isn't too hot to ruin the fabric of your purse.
  • Keep the scrap piece between the velcro to avoid having it stick together permanently.
