Get the placenta and choose the paper that you would like to print it on. Poster board and fine papers hold the color and shape really well. Put the placenta and the paper next to each other. Make sure that you have a nice clean area to work on.

  2. Step 2
Hold the placenta fetal side down.

Take the placenta out of the bag or container and hold it fetal side (the shiny side with the arteries and vein) down into your hands. Slowly position your hands over the paper where it will be printed.

  3. Step 3
Place the placenta fetal side down on the paper.
Place the placenta fetal side down on the paper.

Gently lay the placenta down (fetal side down) on the paper and arrange the cord in any position that you want. Gently press on the placenta so that the vein and arteries show up really well. This is what gives the print a "tree" look to it.

  4. Step 4
Gently peel away from the paper.

Once you feel that you have gotten a good print, carefully peel the cord up first and place it on top of the maternal side of the placenta. This will ensure that it won't flop back down and ruin your print. Next, gently slide your fingers underneath the placenta and begin to peel if off of the paper being careful not to slide it.

  5. Step 5
    Enjoy your print.

Put the placenta back into the container and wash your hands thoroughly. Enjoy your print.

Tips & Warnings
