How to Make a Light up Hacky Sack

Playing hacky sack at night is quite impossible unless you happen to have a glow in the dark or light up footbag. You can create your own light up hacky sack or footbag by combining a traditional footbag with a light-up ball or toy. Not only does this light up hacky sack add a new dimension to the game, it makes a great gift for birthdays and holidays.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the razor blade knife to cut open the rubber ball and remove the light up core.

    • 2

Cut open the hacky sack with the scissors and remove some of the pellets inside. The hole in the hacky sack should be large enough to let you slide the light-up core of the rubber ball into it.

    • 3

Slide the light-up portion of your rubber ball, into the partially empty hacky sack.

    • 4

Sew up the hole in the footbag using the needle and thread. This mending job will have to withstand a lot of bouncing around.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use heavy duty button weight thread to mend the hole in the hacky sack.

  • You can find inexpensive light up toys at the Oriental Trading Post, Flashy Blinky Lights or through a vendor at most fairs and carnivals.

  • Hacky Sack is actually a trademarked name and has been since the 1970's, so the proper generic term for hacky sack is footbag.
