Making playdough is a quick project you can complete with your kids, and the finished dough can provide them with hours of fun afterward. It's easy to make playdough using everyday kitchen ingredients, and you can whip up a batch in your child's favorite colors in 5 minutes or less. Use the no-cook method for playdough and your kids can be creating quickly.

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Measuring cup

Instructions

      Combine flour, salt and oil in a bowl. Gently mix together.

      Add 1/3 cup of water. Gradually add water to dry ingredients, mixing with your fingers until smooth.

      Knead the dough with your hands until it is smooth and pliable. This should take about 3 to 5 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want colored playdough, add 2 to 3 drops of food coloring to the water. Make a separate small batch for each color.

  • Be sure to store the dough in a resealable zipper storage bag or plastic container with a lid.

  • If your playdough is too stiff, you can add a little water or vegetable oil. Add a little at a time to avoid making the dough too sticky.

  • This kind of playdough is not edible.
