Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
First decide what mood you want the photo to be.
A solid colored background makes the photography subject stand out and can lend an aura of innocence, a regal look or dramatic look. Depending on what the subject is wearing they will either stand out or blend into the backdrop. The solid colored backdrop can be easy to make simply by hanging fabric or by using large sheets of paper. Watch the shadows with a white background though. Otherwise it can look like a police line up photo.
Step2
The great outdoors can be some of the best backgrounds for photos as well as great lighting. The best lighting and most flattering is early in the day or right around sundown. When you set up your photo look to see what you would not want in your photo. Check for people walking behind your subject or cars or basically anything that takes away from your subject and the background that you want.
Step3
Holiday decorations can make a great backdrop for your photos. Your child eating ice cream with a 4th of July parade as the background, sitting among carved jack o-lanterns at Halloween, hanging ornaments on a Christmas tree or balloons at a birthday party.
