1
Mark the center of the books with a ruler and pencil.
-
2
Drill a hole into the center that you marked. Use a drill bit that is either the same size or slightly bigger than the lamp rod that is included in the lamp kit.
-
3
Slide the books onto the lamp rod. For stability, it is best to go from the biggest book to the smallest book from bottom to top. Play around with how you want the books to be stacked and look so that you get a combination that you want.
-
4
Assemble the lamp kit. Be sure to follow the directions that are included with the kit.
-
5
Glue four round wooden feet to each corner of the bottom book. This will create feet for the lamp and raise the lamp off the table surface so that the cord can run under the bottom book.
-
6
Add the light bulb and the lamp shade to the lamp and your recycled book lamp is complete.

Tips & Warnings
You don't have to stack the books perfectly centered if you want a more haphazard look to your book lamp. Experiment with how you want the books to look. Just make sure that the final lamp will be even and sturdy.
