Every kid loves a slide, but you can take it one step further and be the coolest adult ever by building a slide in the house. This quick and easy project doesn't take up much space, and is easily taken down after the play day is over, so there's no builder's remorse. So grab the kids and have fun building a slide in your house.
Things You'll Need
- Pre-configured plastic slide
- Long metal screws
Gather your materials. Start with a plastic slide that you can find at just about any hardware store. These are the slides that you'd use in a swing-set type configuration. For this project, you need need the slide and any mounting brackets and screws that come with the slide itself.
Decide where you want to place the slide. It should be fairly low to the ground, so play around with the position to see what works best for you. Ideally, you want to try to place it somewhere that would make it easily accessible from the other side. Like a half wall, so you can step over the wall to go down the slide.
Find a stud in the wall. You need to secure the slide to two studs in the wall, so use a stud finder to make sure that you place the slide in the correct spot.
Secure the slide to the wall using the screws and brackets. Make sure that the screws are firmly attached to the wall before attempting use.
Test out the slide. Begin by placing small items on the slide, and progressively move up to larger objects until you're confident that it can hold the weight load you're aiming for.
