Organizing a film shoot is done on a daily basis and call sheets are the essential organizational tool. While there are no hard rules for creating a call sheet, there are important elements for every production.

1. Know that call sheets provide a timescale link for cast and crew members. The more detailed information they carry, the less chance of error on the production.
2. Consider that directions to locations keep everyone on time. Including a map, clear instructions and special transportation routes for trucks are logistic necessities.
3. Detail potential problems. Weather and lack of parking can cause production delays. Analyze the location for nearby hospitals, traffic and expected rain. Sunrise and sunset times are equally important.
4. Carefully consider timing when creating a call sheet. Each scene will have technical requirements such as lighting and camera movement that need to be anticipated during the scheduling. Being realistic about timing will keep the production on schedule and within budget.
