1
Select a color of grout to blend with your tile rather than match a specific color in it. You may select a specific-colored grout in a showroom, but the method of installation, temperature and moisture can all affect the final color in your home. Therefore, you may not end up with the exact color you were expecting.

2
Use a lighter-colored grout to make bright colors in your tile project stand out. A lighter color can also hide any mistakes made in setting the tile if it is used with a similarly light-colored tile. Don't use a light grout in areas of high traffic, as it will show dirt more readily and have to be cleaned more often.

Choose a grout the opposite color of your tile if you want the geometric pattern of your design to really stand out. If you're using lighter tile, use a darker grout; for darker tile, use lighter grout. While this will make the design stand out, it will also make mistakes made in laying the tile much more noticeable, so take great care when setting your tile.
