Things You'll Need:
- Primer
- Exterior paint
- Paint sprayer
- Vinyl fence
- Drop cloth
- Gloves
- Hose
- Drying rags
-
Step 1
Spray down the surface of the vinyl fence with the hose. Dry it with the rag or allow it to dry in the sun.
-
Step 2
Get a primer with the ability to stick to most surfaces. You'll need to buy an epoxy-based paint. That's the only kind that will adhere to the vinyl.
-
Step 3
Look for a brand that protects against mold and mildew. Glidden is a good one to try. It's relatively inexpensive and you can tint it.
-
Step 4
Lay down a drop cloth, if you're concerned about getting paint on your lawn or garden. A cloth or plastic one should work fine.
-
Step 5
Use a paint sprayer for the primer and paint. It allows the paint to go on evenly without dripping and clumps. It's much faster than using a roller or paint brush.
-
Step 6
Keep the paint sprayer moving consistently, using a back and forth motion.
-
Step 7
Seal your vinyl fence with a high quality sealer. It will extend the life of your fence. Choose different shines for your fence. You can go with a satin finish or high gloss finish depending on the look you're going for.
