Things You'll Need:
- "Buckram" (stiffening that is used in the bottom of draperies)
- Cut in an oval shape to fit the shoulder of the person wearing the military uniform.
- Fringe will also be needed.
-
Step 1
Take a piece of writing paper and place on shoulder of person and draw the size you need.
-
Step 2
Take that piece of paper and put on the material you use for stiffening.
Draw around the piece of paper. Cut out the drawing twice (one for each shoulder) and set aside.
Take the same piece of paper and put it on the material you have chosen:Cut it a little biger then the stiffening material. You will need to cut this twice also.
Now you have two pieces of material and two pieces of stiffening. -
Step 3
With your chosen material:
Turn two pieces of material wrong side out. Take your chosen fringe and sew fringe to the wrong side "inside" all the way around leaving one end open.
Turn right side out. Fringe will be hanging all way around.
Take the stiffening you have cut out and insert it into open end and spread it out to fill material then sew shut.
The epaulettes are now completed you can attach by sewing or use velcro.
