Instructions

    • 1

Tap the narrow end of the cooled hard boiled egg very gently just enough to break the tip of the shell. Remove a piece of the shell about the size of a dime.

    • 2

Repeat with the larger rounded end of the egg removing a piece of shell roughly the size of a nickel.

    • 3

Wrap your right hand around the narrow end of the egg. Hold the egg with that end towards you.

    • 4

Cup your left hand around the back of the egg remaining ready to catch the egg when it comes free of the shell.

    • 5

Bring your hands and the egg up to your mouth and blow hard into the narrow end forcing all your breath into the hole in the shell and popping the egg out of the larger end.

    • 6

Blow into the shell again if the egg has not popped free. Use more force the second time around and be certain that the air is going into the hole in the shell instead of around the egg.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use eggs that are seven to 10 days old since the fresher the egg the harder it is to get the shell to slip off.

  • Use larger eggs which more easily pop out of the shell.

  • Put eggs in a cold water bath to cool them off quickly after boiling. This causes the egg to separate from the shell.
