Things You'll Need:
- Wrenches
- Cable lube
-
Step 1
Use your wrenches to loosen the adjusters on the cables by screwing them all the way back. Loosen your switch housing and take it off or open it up. Take your cable lube, which is available at all motorcycle manufacturers or aftermarket shops, and insert it into the cable, squeezing a few drops in. This should be done in the front, idol and throttle cables.
-
Step 2
Re-attach your switch housing and open the throttle up all the way. To do this, first, take the bike off the lift and use the kickstand to secure it. Start with the throttle cable closest to the gas tank and adjust it out until the butterfly on your manifold is completely level.
-
Step 3
Turn the handlebars all the way to the left and crank the throttle completely open, then let it go. It should snap back and make a snapping sound. Repeat this process with the handlebars all the way to the right and then with them centered. If it doesn't snap back, at any time, loosen the throttle and try again.
-
Step 4
Test the bike throttle to ensure it is working correctly in the garage before you take the bike into traffic or onto a race track. This will allow you to make further adjustments safely if needed.
