Fake Cuts and Gashes
-
1
Apply a very thin layer of white grease paint to the area where you want to create a fake cut or gash. This should be a very light coat so it won't be too noticeable, but it will make it easier to apply the next coats of makeup.
-
2
Form a bruise with blue and red grease paint and taper the edges into the white grease paint.
-
-
3
Dust the area lightly with talcum powder to set the makeup so it won't smear.
-
4
Make a layer of fake skin where you want the cut to be, matching the skin as closely as possible and smoothing the edges so they won't be noticeable.
-
5
Add a generous amount of fake blood.

6
Put hot water in the clear glass container. Add drops of red and green food coloring to tint the water until it is skin color.
-
7
Add the tinted water slowly to the hot gelatin mixture and stir until the gelatin is just barely dissolved. The gelatin should be very thick.
-
8
Let the gelatin mixture cool until it can be placed on the skin without burning.
-
9
Apply the gelatin to the skin, spreading the edges very thinly so they blend with the skin.

Tips & Warnings
For more gory realism, insert a broken piece of Plexiglas, a nail or fake knife into the fake cut.
Gelatin skin won't last long. If you want fake skin for more than an hour, keep it moist by misting lightly with water in a spray bottle.
