How to Crochet a Scrubby

Non-stick cookware has become a mainstay in kitchens throughout the country. Cooks do not want to scratch the non stick coating so they look for the best way to clean their pots efficiently and thoroughly. Crocheted scrubbies made from nylon netting can be the answer to this cleaning predicament.

Instructions

      Cut netting into strips 1 1/4 inches wide. Wind strips into a ball after tying strips together.

      Start by chaining four. Slip stitch together. Chain two and make 16 double crochets into a circle. Slip stitch to the top of chain two. There will be 16 total stitches.

      Chain two. Crochet two double crochets into each stitch in first round. Slip stitch to top of chain two. Tie off and hide ends. There will be 32 total stitches.

      Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to create another circle.

      Place the two circles together. Single crochet the two sides together. Make sure the crochet hook is going through both layers, not just the top layer.

      Create an alternate scrubby by creating one circle as described above and the second circle out of a cotton yarn such as Cream & Sugar yarn.

      Attach the two circles together as described in Step 5. The nylon side of this scrubby can be used for pans, and the cotton side can be used for more delicate dishes or glasses.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cut nylon netting with a rotary cutter. Netting can be ironed on low to keep it controllable during the preparation stage.
