You may think that since your dishwasher is a machine that is meant to clean your dishes and is run with soap all the time that it is clean. However it to needs to be cleaned. Sometimes your dishwasher can be a breeding place for mold and other bacterias as well as water build up and limescale. They can turn dingy looking inside from discoloration over time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

There are a few different ways that you can efficiently clean your dishwasher. Either go out and buy the special cleaners such as the Jet Dry Dishwasher Cleaner that costs around $4.00 or try a few simple and easy products that you are likely to have around your home already.

  2. Step 2

If you have a package of Koolaid, Tang or other lemon or orange flavor (without the sugar) place it in the soap dish of your dishwasher and run it as normal with an empty load though. It really works! I have tried this myself and I noticed a difference. I do this about once a month and my dishwasher remains looking clean inside.

  3. Step 3

Get a coffee cup and fill it with vinegar. Place it on the top rack of your dishwasher and run it as normal with an empty load. make sure there are no dishes inside. using vinegar works great as well and it also deodorizes will it cleans.

  4. Step 4

If mold is an issue spray equal components of bleach and water and run your dishwasher on empty. This should help clear up some of the mold for you.

Using these home remedies will save you money! I have really tried them all and I do them on a regular basis. they are super cheap compared to buying the one bottle that cost $4.00 a pop!
