Paper scoring is used to partially cut through thick paper like card stock, leaving a crease and making it easier to fold the paper. For example, you typically score along the center of a piece of paper where you plan to fold it to make a card. Most paper trimmers have a scoring blade attachment, but if your paper trimmer doesn't have the scoring blade accessory, use another tool. The embossing stylus can be used to score paper as well as to dry emboss paper.
Place the card stock on the paper trimmer. Use the ruler along the top of the trimmer to line up the paper so that the spot you want to score lands on the cutting groove of the paper trimmer. This is where the blade would cut through your paper.
3
Drag the embossing stylus across the paper, pressing firmly into the cutting groove.
4
Remove paper from trimmer when all desired lines have been scored.
Tips & Warnings
Hold the paper firmly onto the paper trimmer to prevent it from slipping.
Press firmly but not too hard or you may damage the paper.
Make sure your stylus is in good conditions so that you get a clear, thin line.
Scoring can also be used to create decorative lines on the paper instead of creating a folding line.
