Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Play Trumpet With One Hand
Step1
Hold the trumpet tightly with your left or right hand. Your thumb should be placed underneath the base of the instrument for support.
Step2
The index, middle and ring finger are located at the top where three of the valves are found.
Step3
The pinky finger is placed within the half moon symbol to the right of you. If you are using your left hand the tiny half moon will be located to your left.
Step4
The notes are played differently because of the shaped of the mouth. After putting the trumpet together, form your lips in the shape of a pucker as if you were to kiss.
Step5
Press ever so gently with the index, middle or ring finger and blow into the trumpet at the same time as if you were blowing up a balloon or into a paper bag.
Step6
Hold the trumpet steady with either hand; press down on another valve to make a different note come out.
Step7
If you know music then you will also know which valve to press on and how far.
Step8
If one note is played pressing the valve with the index, middle or ring finger, the other fingers are in an arch position preparing to be pressed after the other note is played.
