Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Stir together 1/2 cup of citric acid, 1 and 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of dried lavender. It may help to powder your dried lavender with a mortar and pestle before beginning.

  2. Step 2

Add 15 drops of lavender essential oil and 2 tsp. of water to the mixture. You can add about 5 drops of food coloring to brighten the presentation.

  3. Step 3

Drizzle almond oil slowly into the mixture, stirring constantly. Add the oil slowly, using between 2 and 6 tbsp. You have added enough oil once the mixture holds together in a ball without crumbling.

  4. Step 4

Pack the bath bomb mixture firmly into lightly oiled molds. Once the mixture has set for a minute or two, tap your bath bombs onto a sheet of waxed paper and allow them to dry thoroughly. Once dry, store your finished lavender bath bombs in an airtight container.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can purchase molds made especially for making bath bombs, but other common household items will work as well. Good bath bomb molds might include ice cream scoops, candy or chocolate molds or even muffin tins. Pack the bath bomb mixture firmly into the mold to prevent crumbling when dry.
  • Depending on your climate, your finished lavender bath bombs may require a day or two to dry thoroughly.
  • This recipe should make approximately 7 bath bombs.
  • Lavender essential oils should not be used by pregnant women.
