Henna generally is not removable. The henna paste soaks the top layers of the skin to last a period of time, but it does not stain the skin as permanently as a tattoo. The only true way to remove henna stain is to be patient and wait for it to fade naturally. There are ways to speed up the process however.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Soak a cotton swab with hydrogen peroxide, and gently rub into the skin over the henna stain. It can take awhile, but eventually the color will start to fade.
Step2
Go swimming in a pool. The chlorinated water dries out the skin and speeds up the fading process.
Step3
Soak the area stained with henna in hot water for long periods of time on a regular basis. Take a very long bath, a long and hot shower, or soak your foot or hand in a bowl of hot water.
Step4
Massage olive oil into the stained area. This technique is probably the most gentle on the skin.
Step5
Combine salt with the olive oil. This works as a natural exfoliant. Any other exfoliant also works to remove the top layers of the skin.
Step6
Spend time in the sun to fade the stain. Take proper precautions because this practice can be unhealthy, especially for those with fair skin.
Step7
Rub hair conditioner into the henna stain to also hasten the fading of the tattoo. This technique is also gentle on the skin.
