After you have made a stellar design on the fabric of your choice, you need to heat set it. This way you when you wash the shirt the design does not fade. The following instructions are specifically for GAC 900 or Silk-screen gel, but it can be used with other fabric paints like Tulip.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Fabric with fabric paint design.
  • Iron, Oven, or Dryer.
  • A well ventilated area.
Step1
Make sure the paint has completely air dried before applying a heat setting.
Step2
There are three methods to heat seat the paint. Choose one in which the area is well ventilated.
Step3
Use an iron to heat set the paint. Iron for 3-5 minutes on the reverse side (opposite of the application), with a medium-hot iron. If you are using a delicate fabric, where the heat setting must be lower, remember that your heat time will be longer.
Step4
A curing oven. Use a professional oven to heat set the paint. Cure for 1-2 minutes at 300F, or 4 minutes at 250 F.
Step5
Use a dryer to heat set the paint. If using a commercial dryer at a medium high temperature for 20-40 minutes. If using a household dryer at a high temperature for 40-50 minutes.
Step6
Washing and drying tips. Be sure to let the paint dry for at least 4 days before washing, turn the garment inside out, and wash in cold water only. If you hand wash and drip dry it will increase the durability of the paint.

  • Be sure to read all labels, directions, and warnings on your product before staring.
  • Make sure you heat set in a well ventilated area.
  • Do not use a household oven to cure the paint.
