How to Eat Sensibly on Thanksgiving

With so many food options, Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season that makes the majority of the world pursue dieting as their New Year’s resolution. However, you can still enjoy Thanksgiving dinner without gorging yourself and feeling bad about it later.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Survey all the food options available when you sit down at the table. Determine which foods you’d like to eat at least one helping of.
Step2
Fill your first plate with a reasonable amount of each food item you want to eat.
Step3
Once your first plate is completed and you’re ready for seconds and thirds, think twice. Foods such as potatoes and stuffing are going to fill you up fastest, and with the least nutritional value attached to them. Consider having seconds of the protein-loaded turkey as well as the healthy vegetables that are often served at Thanksgiving, such as carrots, string beans, cranberries, squash and corn. Having a second sampling of these healthier options will fill you up and give you more energy for the rest of the day.
Step4
When the desserts come out, survey all of the options and pick out the one thing you want to eat the most. Serve yourself a reasonably-sized portion, be it a small slice of pumpkin pie or a homemade cookie, and enjoy it. Don’t go overboard sampling everything; odds are, you’ll just feel the effects of that later on. If you can push yourself to avoid the temptation of the desserts altogether, then kudos!
