Frogs are used in floral arrangements to hold flowers in a position in the arrangement firmly. They are basically a grid used in the top of the vase. You can make a super cheap and disposable floral frog in any vase or container you would like to make a flower arrangement in.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clear tape
  • Vase or container
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure
  1. Step 1

Measure how wide the top of your vase or container is.

  2. Step 2

Cut strips of clear tape to 3 inches longer than your container opening is wide.

  3. Step 3

Hang the strips of clear tape on the side of a table so they do not stick together.

  4. Step 4

Cut one strip for every inch the vase or container opening is wide. Locate the middle of the opening of the flower vase.

  5. Step 5

Place one strip of tape across the opening, slightly off center from the middle of the opening. It should be straight across, just not right in the middle of the vase.

  6. Step 6

Fold the edges of the tape over the mouth of the opening and press them into the sides of the container. Press firmly so the tape adheres well and will not be affected by the water.

  7. Step 7

Place a second strip on the other side of the middle, slightly off center as well. You will have created an open channel in the middle of your vase with the tape.

  8. Step 8

Start placing strips of tape on each side in the same direction working out to the edge. Leave a space in between each line of tape.

  9. Step 9

Turn the vase 90 degrees and start the process over again. This will create a grid. Place a strip of tape slightly off center. Press the sides down. Continue to work to the left. Repeat this on the right side.

  10. Step 10

Insert flowers into the openings of the grid to create a flower arrangement. Start in the middle and work your way out.

  11. Step 11

Remove the disposable flower vase frog when you are finished with your flower arrangement.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a clear tape so you can not see it through the flower arrangement.
  • Use a thinner clear tape, not a packing tape. This will leave the space you need in the grid to insert the flowers. Packing tape is simply too large. A present wrapping tape is fine.
  • To remove any stickiness or adhesive left on the vase, rub it with some rubbing alcohol or window cleaner. This will quickly remove anything sticky on the vase or container.
  • Masking tape will not stick very well to most containers.
