Step 1
Shop around for a caterer who has experience with vegetarian catering. Look for someone who is enthusiastic about your choice to have a veggie wedding. Make sure your caterer is educated about vegetarian foods and knows how to avoid "hidden meat" like chicken broth or gelatin.
-
Step 2
Choose foods that are familiar to your guests. This isn't the time to introduce your meat-and-potato guests to some funky new dish they can't pronounce. Stick with dishes like vegetarian lasagna, vegetable pot pie, or a delicious pasta dish.
-
Step 3
Choose food that isn't too spicy. Your poor Aunt Bertha who thinks barbecue sauce is frighteningly hot won't appreciate spicy vegetarian cuisine. Serve hot sauces on the side.
-
Step 4
Provide guests with more than one option to ensure that there's something they like.
-
Step 5
Check over the menu carefully and talk with the caterer to make sure your food is completely vegetarian.
-
Step 6
Serve your food to your guests. Don't make a big deal about the fact that it's vegetarian.

on 7/10/2008 My wife and her family is vegetarian and we went with a reccomended Indian restaurant for the food at our reception. The caterers were Ok with another vendor's food because it was nothing they could make. The vegetarian entree options were nearly endless and not all of it is spicy. Many guests were so interested in the unique fare that they never missed the meat. My advice is to avoid vegetarian dishes that are intended to be prepared with meat.
