Shiny lips are back. The shimmer and shine of luscious lips is the goal for this season. You can choose to have a bright colored shine or just something natural for a subtle day-time look. For the frugal at heart a homemade lip gloss is a perfect alternative. Read on to learn how to make homemade lip gloss in less than five minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Petroleum jelly (Vaseline works well)
  • Colored lipstick or cream blush
  • Ziploc bags
  • Scooping stick or spatula
  • Small containers
  1. Step 1

Choose the color of lipstick or blush that you will use to tint your homemade lip gloss.

  2. Step 2

Scoop your petroleum jelly into a plastic bag.

  3. Step 3

Cut off a small amount of lipstick or some cream blush and put it in the bag with the petroleum jelly. Start with a small amount in order to see if the color is the right shade. You can always add more later.

  4. Step 4

Close the plastic zipper bag while letting out the air and gently squish the petroleum jelly and lipstick mixture together in order to mix in the color.

  5. Step 5

After mixing your lip gloss completely, determine if you have achieved the appropriate shade. If you want to go darker then you can add more lip stick.

  6. Step 6

Cut a small hole in the corner of your plastic bag and squeeze the lip gloss into a small plastic container. Put on the lid and store in your purse or makeup bag.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you squeeze the lip gloss mixture enough to blend the lipstick color completely.
  • Use the homemade lip gloss to add a hint of color and shine to bare lips or apply it over matte lipstick to create a shine.
  • You can also add some flavor to the lip gloss mixture by putting a few drops of flavoring in your bag while mixing the lip gloss. Peppermint, vanilla or strawberry flavors work well.
  • A little dash or body glitter or shimmer eye shadow can be added to make the lip gloss sparkle.
