Whether you add ham, cheese, spinach or even tuna to a quiche, it's still made in relatively the same way. Once you have the basics, you can let your creativity take over. Among the best quiche recipes are those that include more exotic ingredients. Give this crab quiche recipe a try when you feel more adventurous.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 cup crab meat
  • 4 oz. cheese, shredded (Swiss or Gruyere work best)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon pepper
  • 1 tbsp. fresh dill weed
  1. Step 1

Prepare your pie crust by placing it in a pie tin, pressing the sides in and making sure the entire pie crust is formed correctly. You could also get a fully prepared pie crust that comes prepackaged, formed and in its own tin.

  2. Step 2

Place the solid ingredients (crab, dill, and cheese) in the crust. Spread them out so that they are roughly level in the dish.

  3. Step 3

Beat the eggs in a separate bowl, and then add the mayonnaise and milk. Beat it enough to make it completely mixed, but not aerated.

  4. Step 4

Pour the mixture over the crab in the pie crust. Fill in all the spaces in the dish. However, bubbles here and there won't affect the overall cooking time or taste of the dish.

  5. Step 5

Place the quiche in a preheated 375 degree oven for 40 minutes. You can check the quiche during the cooking process to ensure that the crust doesn't burn. Leave the quiche uncovered so that some moisture can escape.

Tips & Warnings
  • While real crab lends to a much better dish overall, you can easily substitute imitation crab.
  • Be sure real crab meat is cooked prior to placing it in the quiche (whereas imitation crab meat always comes ready to eat).
  • Be aware that a crab quiche recipe (or almost any quiche recipe) requires dairy products, particularly eggs and milk (cream). If you are lactose intolerant or prefer not to eat dairy, then you may need to give traditional quiche recipes a pass. Vegetarian and vegan quiche recipes may work better for you.
