How to Make a Decoupage Gift Wrap

Nothing makes a great gift better than personalizing the gift wrap. By using decoupage, you can create custom gift wrap suitable for any occasion. Decoupage gift wrap is an easy way to make your gift wrap beautiful and makes your gift memorable.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Decoupage medium such as Modpodge or Liquitex Gloss
  • Markers or paint pens
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Scissors
  • Pictures, papers, clippings
  • Gift box
  1. Step 1

    Get a box that your gift will fit in.

  2. Step 2

    Cut out items from magazines, newspapers, paper napkins and other interesting items to use in your project.

  3. Step 3

    Put a generous coat of decoupage medium on the box, gluing the cut-out items on with the medium. Cover as much, or as little, of the box as you choose.

  4. Step 4

    Allow the box to dry for 24 hours.

  5. Step 5

    Add any personal or occasion messages with paint or marker.

  6. Step 6

    Add another coat of decoupage medium and allow to dry.

  7. Step 7

    Add ribbon and a gift tag.

Tips & Warnings
  • Think creatively when choosing materials to decoupage. Anything that you can press flat will work well. For ideas, look through old photos, cut out magazine pictures, or use decorative paper dinner napkins.
  • You can create antique paper quite easily by tea staining. Simply drizzle tea on the paper, allow to dry and use in your project.
