Nothing makes a great gift better than personalizing the gift wrap. By using decoupage, you can create custom gift wrap suitable for any occasion. Decoupage gift wrap is an easy way to make your gift wrap beautiful and makes your gift memorable.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Decoupage medium such as Modpodge or Liquitex Gloss
  • Markers or paint pens
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Scissors
  • Pictures, papers, clippings
  • Gift box

Step1
Get a box that your gift will fit in.
Step2
Cut out items from magazines, newspapers, paper napkins and other interesting items to use in your project.
Step3
Put a generous coat of decoupage medium on the box, gluing the cut-out items on with the medium. Cover as much, or as little, of the box as you choose.
Step4
Allow the box to dry for 24 hours.
Step5
Add any personal or occasion messages with paint or marker.
Step6
Add another coat of decoupage medium and allow to dry.
Step7
Add ribbon and a gift tag.

Tips & Warnings

  • Think creatively when choosing materials to decoupage. Anything that you can press flat will work well. For ideas, look through old photos, cut out magazine pictures, or use decorative paper dinner napkins.
  • You can create antique paper quite easily by tea staining. Simply drizzle tea on the paper, allow to dry and use in your project.
