Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Location. Location. Location. Is this museum near where you live or work? If not is there an easy way to get there by subway. When assessing how far is too far, think about your daily routine. Are you the kind of person who likes to explore new neighborhoods and doesn't mind the travel? Or are you the kind of person who wouldn't use their gym unless it was on their block?
Step2
Now that you've narrowed your search, let's look inside. Check the exhibits for the next year and note how many you would like to see.
Step3
Special events. Does the museum offer special events for members: parties, live performances, and special viewing hours? Note how many of these you would like to and be able to attend.
Step4
Do the math. Figure out how much the events and exhibits you would like to see would normally cost you. Now, divide this number by two. Daily life will interrupt your plans most likely, and it's good to calculate on the safe side.
Step5
Now that you have your figures, it will be easy to see which memberships are worth your money and time. Lastly, check to see when and if the museums you're interested in offer free admission. It may not be necessary to join even if there are lots of exhibits you want to see.
