Instructions

    • 1

Put sheets of newspaper down on your working area to protect the surface from the paint and to make cleanup easier after doing this art project.

    • 2

Pick out colors of poster paint or liquid tempera paint to use. Pour the paint into plastic cups.

    • 3

Place three to four marbles into each cup of paint. Be careful not to splash yourself or anyone else when doing so.

    • 4

Put a piece of paper on the bottom of a cardboard box, a large shallow pan or a pie tin to create your workplace.

    • 5

Pick out the marbles carefully from the cups using a plastic spoon. Retrieve the marbles one at a time.

    • 6

Place a marble into your workplace and tilt the container from side to side to create beautiful designs that resemble fireworks.

    • 7

Continue doing this with as many different colors of paint as you would like. Repeat the steps with each color.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use this art technique to create greeting cards, place mats, wrapping paper and other things.

  • Instead of dropping the marbles into the paint, you can also paint them all the way around with a paint brush.

  • If you are working with very young children and want to make this project less messy, squirt some paint directly onto the paper inside your workplace and drop marbles into the box. Tilt the container so that the marbles roll into the paint to create designs.
