How to Make a Weapon Out of Duct Tape

Duct tape has been used for thousands of repair and craft projects and, believe it or not, can also be used for self-defense. The strong, inexpensive duct tape can be used to make crude self-defense weapons. Duct tape adheres to most surfaces, and when wrapped tightly, duct tape can become rigid enough to make a dangerous weapon.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a simple stabbing tool out of duct tape. Roll a strip of duct tape as tightly as possible into a pencil size cylinder. This is the core of the weapon. Each layer of duct tape should be attached at the tip and wrapped around the core in an ever widening arc until the base of the weapon is larger than the tip. Although the tip will not be sharp, it will be able to penetrate surfaces.

    • 2

Use a solid object, such as a pencil or piece of plastic, as the core. The added rigidity of the more solid material gives the duct tape weapon more penetrating power. This weapon can be used in the fist to pierce an opponent.

    • 3

Wrap duct tape around a sharp object such as a shard of glass or plastic to create a handle. The duct tape allows the shard to be used as a knife, spear or dart. This "shiv" style weapon has been used effectively by many prisoners and street thugs.

Tape several pieces of dowel rod together to form a club. The duct tape will bind the smaller pieces together and help to prevent breaking. In this way, several smaller ineffective sticks can be made into a club, mace or spear shaft.

    • 5

Bind strips of bamboo into a flail using duct tape. The duct tape flail is very effective weapon for repelling attackers. The strips of bamboo are nearly unbreakable when bound together in this fashion.
