Things You'll Need:
- Old newspaper or table covering
- Pine cones in a variety of sizes
- Florist wire
- Grapevine wreath
- Glue gun
- Glue sticks
- Decorative items to place on the wreath
- Ribbon, preferably wire-edged
- Door hanger
-
Step 1
Place an old newspaper on the table where you plan to work. Plug in the glue gun, and let it warm up. Set the glue gun on a heat resistant pad.
-
Step 2
Insert florist wire into the base of the larger pine cones. Space them evenly around the wreath, and then wire them in place.
-
Step 3
Arrange the smaller pine cones on the grapevine wreath without gluing them on. This allows you to create a balanced wreath.
-
Step 4
When the appearance of the wreath suits you, begin gluing the pine cones in place on the wreath. Select a starting point, and work your way around the wreath. Add glue to the base of the large pine cones as well to stabilize them on the wreath.
-
Step 5
Position your decorative items on the wreath without gluing them. Try a variety of arrangements until you discover the one you like the best. Glue the decorative items to the wreath. Or, if they are heavier, use the florist wire to fasten them to the wreath.
-
Step 6
Weave the ribbon through the pine cones in a manner that suits you. Create a matching bow. Fasten it to the wreath with florist wire.
-
Step 7
Create a hook on the back of the wreath. Twist a couple piece of florist wire together, then weave one end through the top of the wreath. Connect both ends by twisting them together. Hang your wreath.
