Children enjoy celebrating the holidays by doing simple arts and crafts. It helps to make them focus on the deeper meaning of the holiday while adding their own personal touch. During the Thanksgiving holiday you can help the children make a Pilgrim bonnet. Follow these steps to learn how to make it.
Take the paper and fold it lengthwise 2 inches from the edge of the paper. It should be 8-by-18 inches when folded. Fold the extra 2 inches over and crease it well.

Bend the paper over the top of the child's head without folding or creasing it. This is done so that the two shorter edges of the Pilgrim bonnet come down to the edge of her jaw.

Use a pencil and mark the paper where it meets her jaw line. Remove the Pilgrim bonnet. Cut a slit on each end 6 inches from the edge towards the center.

Pretend that the bonnet is still on the child and fold down the middle section between the slits. Fold one side over the middle section and glue it then fold the other side and glue it. Place something heavy on top of it and let it dry.

Punch holes on each end of the folded over flap from Step 1. Tie yarn to it. This is the front of the Pilgrim bonnet. Put the hat on the child and tie it under her chin.
Tips & Warnings
To use this Pilgrim bonnet year after year make it out of white felt. Use a hot glue gun to permanently glue it together.
