Sugaring is a long-lasting way to remove hair that is said to be less painful than waxing. (I put the "wax" in quotes, as sugaring contains no actual wax.) This is a cheap, easy way to remove hair, without special strips or warmers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • jar of sugar "wax"
  1. Step 1

Start with clean, dry skin, including hands. Heat water until hot but not boiling. If heating water over a stove, pour 1-3 inches of water into a small ceramic, Pyrex, or other bowl that can be safely handled while containing hot liquid. With the lid on, place your container of sugaring in the bowl. Do not immerse the container.

  2. Step 2

Leave jar in bowl of hot water for 5-7 minutes, but never more than 10. Remove a small amount of sugaring from the jar with your fingers- it should be thick, but flowing. Knead the sugaring between your fingers until it turns opaque.

  3. Step 3

Spread the sugaring across the area to be depilated using your fingers, with the direction of hair growth. Pull off quickly in the opposite direction. Repeat until all unwanted hair is gone.

Tips & Warnings
  • One can microwave sugaring, but please make sure that your container is microwave safe.
  • You may want a damp cloth ready to mop up spills- sugaring cleans up with water.
  • One cannot sugar or wax hair that is less than 1/4 inch generally.
  • The sugaring should be warm, NOT hot, when you handle it.
