Adult contemporary music, or AC, as radio programmers call it, rules the airwaves in most U.S. cities. A wide array of singers and musical groups are played on adult contemporary stations. Songs by Madonna, Celine Dion, and Rod Stewart are always played on adult contemporary or "soft rock" stations. The roster of new artists on adult contemporary radio stations and in the bins at CD stores changes every year.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Listen to your local soft rock or adult contemporary station or to weekly radio shows like American Top 40 to hear the latest songs and adult contemporary artists. TV shows like American Idol also showcase adult contemporary music. When you hear a song you like, find out more about the artist.
Step2
Consult websites like VH1.com or MTV.com to get more information about the artists and music you like. Buy CDs from Amazon or other websites, or take advantage of sales at stores like Best Buy. Since adult contemporary music is so popular, CDs in the genre may be a lot cheaper than other music genres.
Step3
Download and buy your favorite adult contemporary songs from iTunes. Most hit AC songs, like those by Kelly Clarkson and John Mayer, can be downloaded from the comfort of your home computer.
Step4
Buy a greatest hits CD. If you hear an adult contemporary artist you like but can't decide which CD to purchase, try a greatest hits CD. Carole King, Elton John, and Bryan Adams are examples of adult contemporary artists with extensive back catalogs and greatest hits collections.
Step5
Join a fan club if you really enjoy a particular artist. Fan clubs have special offers, discounts and pre-sales on music and concerts for loyal fans.
