Things You'll Need:
- HEPA filter
- Furnace fan
- Plywood pieces
- Tools and drill
- Silicone sealant
- PVC pipe
- Mesh wire or gauze
- Duct tape
- Metal clips or nails
-
Step 1
Purchase a small HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter and note its dimensions. Also buy a small furnace fan to draw air inside the air purifier.
-
Step 2
Construct a box using plywood pieces. Make the box big enough to easily accommodate the filter and fan. Make one hole on the top of the box and another in the front. Drill two small additional holes on the side of the box for the fan and filter wires.
-
Step 3
Place the filter near the front hole in the box and attach it with duct tape. Attach the fan near the top hole to draw air inside the box. Seal every corner of the box with a silicone sealant.
-
Step 4
Pick out a room where you plan to attach the air purifier. Drill a small hole in the wall that goes all the way to the other side.
-
Step 5
Place a PVC pipe in the hole and cover the outside end with a mesh wire or thin gauze to prevent debris or insects from coming in the house. Secure the wooden box to the other end of the pipe using duct tape, metal clips or nails. Plug in the fan and test the air purifier.
