Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the corn cob by cutting the kernels off the corn. This step should be done a couple of days prior to making the dolls in order to let the cobs dry out. It is also a good idea to have this done before the children start to make the dolls so there is less chance of them cutting themselves with the knife.

    • 2

Determine which end of the cob is the best for the head. Take the felt-tipped marker and draw on the eyes, nose, mouth and any other features you would like for your doll's face.

    • 3

Poke the sticks into the corn cob in the place where the arms should go. Make sure that they are even on both sides of the corn cob.

    • 4

Make the hair by wrapping the yarn around your hand. Making approximately 30 loops of wound yarn will be sufficient for the doll's hair. Cut the end of the loops and tie them to give the doll bangs. Glue the doll's hair onto its head.

    • 5

Create an outfit for the doll by choosing scraps of fabric. You can make a full dress or a skirt and blouse for the doll by wrapping the fabric around the doll and tying it with ribbon around the waist. If you would like, you could sew a hem on the skirt or shirt with the needle and thread. You can glue the fabric on the cob to make sure it stays in place.
